description Blackwoods Campground is located in breathtaking Acadia National Park on the Maine coast. Visitors venture to Acadia for its picturesque scenery, historic sites and recreational activities, including hiking, biking and canoeing.
drivingDirection The entrance to Blackwoods Campground is off of State Highway 3, six miles south of Bar Harbor. There is no entrance to the campground from Acadia National Park's Park Loop Rd. The Park Loop Rd. has several low bridges and the majority of it is one way traffic; do not enter any entrances with a vehicle or equipment that is 10'4" or more.
facilitiesDescription The majority of Blackwoods' sites are for small and large tents; other sites can accommodate travelers with RVs. Flush toilets, running water, and a dump station are provided, as are picnic tables and fire rings. Roads are paved. Acadia's Island Explorer shuttle buses provide free service between park destinations, local communities and the Bar Harbor-Hancock County Regional Airport. Regularly scheduled buses stop at campgrounds, carriage road entrances and many trailheads. Shuttle service is available from late June to mid-October. Fee shower facilities and camping supply stores are located in the village of Otter Creek, 1/2 mile from the campground.

importantInformation Blackwoods Campground is available up to 6 months in advance. Acadia National Park charges the following entrance fees: $25 per vehicle, $20 per motorcycle or $12 per person. Visitors may purchase the Acadia National Park annual pass for $50. Buy your Acadia National Park pass online at yourpassnow.com . An entrance pass is required in the park and while staying in the campground. If not arriving on the first day of your reservation, you must call (207) 288-3274 or forfeit reservation. No first-come, first-served sites. All camping at this facility is by reservation only. Please bring confirmation information. A permit is required to saltwater fish, click here for details. An in-state fishing license is required for freshwater fishing. Fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited within the park. Pets are permitted and must be leashed or caged at all times. Leashes must be six feet (1.8 m) or less in length. Pets may not be left unattended for their safety and for the safety of other visitors and wildlife. No electric, water or sewer hookups. Laundry available in nearby communities. Shuttle bus runs from June 23rd to Columbus Day. All equipment must fit on the gravel portions of the site pad. Vehicles park in developed areas only. One vehicle per site. All other vehicles must park in overflow parking. Maximum total stay for Acadia National Park campgrounds is 30 nights per calendar year. Bar Harbor is less than 15 minutes away, with restaurants, shops, museums, music festivals and whale-watching tours. Beautiful Lamoine State Park is just 21 miles from Acadia, with boating, fishing and scenic views of Frenchman's Bay. The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge is 50 miles from the campground, and is home to a nesting habitat for diverse seabird and wading bird populations, as well as bald eagles.
